I’m not sure when this design was from, the notebook it’s drawn in has a 1998 calendar printed on it, but it’s more likely 2000-2001. I was old enough to attempt a cavelier projection, but not old enough to spell “batteries” correctly (pre-teens probably).

There is always much difficulty in my house involving the calendar—constant flippings, erasings and rewitings of events with handwritting rapidly approaching the microscopic. A whiteboard calendar seemed the cure for our scheduling ailments, but even that comes with its own side-effects—usually only show one month and usually look jarringly modern compared to the rest of our house. While I could find multi-month whiteboard calendars, they were either very big or too small to write in, and all had the mentioned aesthetic issues.

I have a fan. Unfortunately, it’s a broken fan. Apparently the manufacturer did not design it with children in mind. Silly engineers, not factoring in 30 pounds of kid hanging off of it. Well, now it’s base has broken, and been glued back together… then broken again1. I suppose the simplest solution is to just cut out a cylinder of wood with a hole for the cable, and then screw it to a piece of plywood for the base.

I find myself in need of a tachometer, for my lawnmower. Why? Well, I generally don’t worry too much about little things like reasons and justification. Let’s just say that this lawnmower has been a small heap of trouble and any diagnostic may be useful. So, here’s what I’m working with, a Poulan Pro PR25PH48ST with a Briggs and Stratton 445777. Now I’ve just got to think up a way to determine the engine’s RPM; I suppose I have a few options.
